Who this page is for
SmartChat, operated by BIT XPLORER INFOSYSTEMS LLP, is used by two different groups of people. The route you take depends on which one you are.
You are a business using SmartChat
You signed up, connected a WhatsApp Business Account and message your own customers through us. See Section A.
You received a message from a business
You are a customer of a business that uses SmartChat. See Section B.
Section A — Businesses using SmartChat
Option 1: delete individual records yourself
Sign in to SmartChat and delete individual contacts or conversations from your workspace at any time. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Option 2: disconnect SmartChat from your WhatsApp account
Because you own your WhatsApp Business Account, you can revoke our access without asking us:
- Go to business.facebook.com and sign in to your Meta Business Manager.
- Open Business settings → Apps (or Accounts → WhatsApp Accounts).
- Select SmartChat and choose Remove.
This immediately stops SmartChat sending or receiving any message on your number. It does not by itself erase the data already stored in your SmartChat workspace — use Option 3 for that.
Option 3: delete your entire account and all its data
Email info@bit-xplorer.com from the email address registered on your account, with the subject line "Delete my account". Include your business name and the WhatsApp phone number connected to the account so we can identify it.
We will confirm receipt, verify that the request comes from the account owner, and then delete:
- Your account, users and sign-in credentials.
- All contacts, tags, notes and opt-in records in your workspace.
- All message content and message history stored by SmartChat.
- The stored WhatsApp access token and connection details for your account.
- Application logs relating to your account, as they age out of the log retention period.
What we cannot delete
- Data held by Meta. WhatsApp messages also pass through Meta's systems. Deleting your SmartChat data does not delete anything Meta holds — you must contact Meta or use your Meta Business Manager for that.
- Messages on your customers' phones. A message already delivered to someone's WhatsApp sits on their device and is outside our reach.
- Records we must legally keep. Invoices and accounting records are retained for the period Indian tax and company law requires. These contain billing details, not message content.
Section B — Customers who received a message
If a business messaged you on WhatsApp using SmartChat, that business decides what it sends and holds your details — we only run the software they use. They are the right people to ask.
- To stop the messages, reply STOP in the WhatsApp conversation. We record the opt-out and block further campaign messages to you. You can also block or report the number from within WhatsApp.
- To have your data deleted, contact the business directly and ask them to delete your contact record. They can do this themselves in SmartChat immediately.
- If you cannot reach them, email info@bit-xplorer.com with the WhatsApp number that messaged you and the number that received the message. We will pass your request to that business without undue delay and follow up with them.
We cannot delete a business's records on our own initiative, because that data belongs to them and deleting it could destroy records they are required to keep. We can, and do, make sure your request reaches them.
